Captain’s Day Tees Off in Style at Castlereagh Hills Golf Course

The competition is one of the highlights in the club's calendar and attracts men and lady members for a day of friendly competition in support of the Men’s Captain, Bryan Dallas.

The event concluded with a meal at the Hills Bar & Restaurant, where golfers enjoyed an evening of entertainment and an eagerly awaited prize presentation.

The overall winner was presented to Simon Beattie with runner up going to Thomas Sloan, third place Thomas McCreight and Jim Walton taking 4th place. The best gross was won by Darren Edgar with Jim Davidson picking up best front 9 and Mark Davidson best back 9.

Closest to the pins were keenly contended with six golfers taking home prizes, which included Thomas Sloan (3rd hole), Stephen Campbell (6th hole) Ross Crawford (9th hole), Thomas Wright (11th hole), Stephen Quigley (14th hole) and David Martin (18th hole). The longest drive was won by Jonathon Weir and Wilson Johnston collected the same prize in the over 65’s category.

Janet McMaster was awarded winner in the Ladies section with Jill Harpur taking home the runner up prize and Ingrid Anderson third prize.

The 5-day winner was presented to Ellis Harvey and the runner up was collected by David Ramsay and Lindsay Boyd the third prize. The 5-day longest drive was won by John Cotter and closest to the pins were collected by Martin Chandler and Wesley McCullough.

Speaking at the prize presentation, Councillor Sharon Lowry, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee said, “The position of Captain is a wonderful opportunity not only to celebrate the sport of golf but also to recognise the leadership and commitment that comes with the role.

Castlereagh Hills Golf Club also plays an important role in the community. It provides opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, enjoy the outdoors, develop friendships and come together through a shared passion for the game.

I know a great deal of work goes on behind the scenes to organise an event like today. I would like to thank Captain Bryan Dallas, committee members, the Hills Restaurant and all those who have contributed their time and effort to ensure the event has been a success. Your hard work has helped create a truly memorable competition for every golfer.
